Gigawatt Global is a multinational solar energy developer that builds, finances and operates utility-scale photovoltaic solar projects in emerging markets. The company's goal is to implement utility scale renewable energy in challenging locations. Gigawatt Global is the kind of lean, experienced and focused company to bring renewables to Africa and other emerging markets. The company has exceptional financial partners, including Norfund, FMO, AfDB, OPIC and the World Bank.
Work hand-in-hand with the firm’s engineers to develop products, conduct soil studies and environmental studies. Past interns have helped with mini-grids, battery storage together with solar energy, mapping renewable resources of Africa, political maps of Africa showing different countries legislative and/or policy challenges with renewable energy and private company involvements in their country, to name a few. Some are assisting on a certain project in an African country (no travel), some are following up leads for new projects, some are involved in developing new and coming projects, some are involved in researching different topics of interest at that moment, others are busy with expanding the investor base, some are assisting in developing new concept for business and projects etc. Some of the work is more suited for engineers and scientist and other work is more geared towards ‘policy people’ or people skilled in finance, business or law.
