14 Feb Music Therapy in a Special-ed School
Aspecial-needs school that caters for students with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other muscular diseases. There are currently 70 students ranging in ages from 6-21. There is a broad representative of the population, Jews, Muslims and Christians. There are 11 classes in the school and at times there is a maximum age difference of 3 years between members of the same class. The division into classes is based, as much as possible, on similarities in their level of social, emotional & cognitive development. The aim of the learning program is to advance the students in the particular fields of study, and to teach them to function independently and to maximize the students self-management. The program takes into account the differences between the individual students and great effort is made to create a personalized program for each student in the fields of study, rehabilitation, physical needs & emotional welfare.
The internship will consist of: – Work with the music therapists in their treatment of the children. – Lead music groups with the students. – Other music oriented activities.
