12 Jul Shadowing the Experts
Herzog is an amazing geriatric- psychiatric hospital that specializes in nursing care for the elderly. However, in 2004 it branched out out to include a Pediatric Chronic Respiratory Care Unit as well, which is where I intern. The pediatric unit is unbelievable, consisting of approximately 20 patients ranging from 4 months-18 years of age. After 18 years of age, they are transported to the adult wing. My role as an intern is to shadow doctors, assist with any activities, and interact with the children as much as possible. I am also currently working on two research projects as well; History of SMA and History of Canavan Disease. I observe patients in my unit that have these disorders and apply it to the medical knowledge that i possess from research and learning from the extremely knowledgable and helpful doctors in the unit. Outside of the project that I have been assigned, I have started researching other disorders on my own free time that the patients have in order to gain a better understanding of what they are capable or not capable of doing. Therefore, I can better interact with each patient and form any type of bond, if possible.” Victoria Yoffe, MEOR Jinternship
I am very thankful to Meor Jinternship for providing me this wonderful opportunity to intern in the atmosphere that I have come to love, as well as to learn and become a better person out of it. Without Meor Jinternship, I would not have had this knowledge and the experience that I do today. I look forward to going back to intern every day.
